On your feelings about wanting to skip college--I completely understand; I'm in school right now and I kind of hate it. I want to write professionally when I get older so technically college isn't a necessity for me, but my parents insisted that I go.
I don't know what you want to do as a profession, but let me tell you that I don't think college is at all necessary, and it's just as dramatic and non-awesome as high school. Maybe other people have different experience but in my close group of friends, that's the general consensus.
